The bird-watcher tour

Costa Rica is the home to many enviable birdlife. This is a small country in territory, but giant in biodiversity, which makes it a paradise for bird lovers. With more than 900 species of birds (10% of the world’s total), bird watching has become one of our most precious national activities. Together with our bird watching specialist, explore a collection of birds on this fascinating tour, suitable for both beginners as well as experts alike.

In the Nicoya peninsula alone resides approximately 300 species. During our route we’ll explore rivers, mountains and beaches in search of the most colorful and exuberant birds.

For this tour we offer two different routes:

Option 1: Star Mountain Eco lodge

The first option is located within Star Mountain Eco Lodge; a private property positioned in Mal País that borders the Cabo Blanco National Park. Star Mountain provides specialized trails for bird watching at moderate elevations within a perfect tropical environment. In addition to this, there is an incredible coastal view and various lookout points.

Option 2: Rural Communities

The second option is a tour designed to visit rural communities south of the Nicoya Peninsula. During the tour you will discover open areas of grasslands, rivers, mountains and beaches in search of the most amazing bird species.

From Tambor: 6:00 am (1 hr 20 mins)
From Montezuma: 6:30 am (1 hour)
