Our History
Nature is our passion
Manakin tours is a 100% Costa Rican company, created by Douglas Morales and his family, all locals from the Nicoya Peninsula. We are extremely passionate about mother nature and her creations, and aim to educate, protect and encourage sustainability on the peninsula.
Manakin is a bird species found on the Nicoya peninsula in tropical wet/dry forests. For us this bird is significantly special as it represents local condition, and like all of us, this bird has been here for generations.
Our grandfathers were some of the original founders of this peninsula and it is a privilege to take visitors around the area to learn the local history and first steps of our ancestors in this important sector of Costa Rica.
Our Tours
We offer tours with a focus on nature, where clients can relax, learn, have fun and get to know the local flora, fauna, history and culture of the Nicoya peninsula in destinations such as Santa Teresa, Mal País, Manzanillo, Montezuma, Cabuya, Tambor, Cobano and Paquera.
We also provide private tours in some of the most famous natural destinations throughout Costa Rica. With the recommendations of our staff visit magnificent parks, volcanos, and forests like Monteverde, Arenal Volcano, and Manuel Antonio national park, among others.
